Questions people actually ask
How do I change the look?
Tap the palette button in the top-right of the home screen, or press and hold the “Rand-o-matic” title. Pick one of the five skins and the whole app changes with it — artwork, animation, haptics and every word, right down to the button labels.
How do I add, rename, reorder or delete options?
Open a list and tap the dashed row at the bottom to put something new in — it's called something different in every skin, from “Add a wedge” on the Prize Wheel to “Load another capsule” in the Gashapon. Tap Edit in the top-right to rename an option, move it up or down, or delete it, then Done when you're finished. To delete a whole list, swipe it left on the home screen and confirm.
Why won't a re-roll give me the same answer twice?
That's deliberate. When you re-roll, the answer you just rejected is taken out of the running, and so is every other one you've rejected in that session — so a re-roll always moves you forward. Once every option has had its turn, the whole list becomes eligible again rather than leaving you stuck.
Are the picks actually random?
Yes. Every eligible option has the same chance every time, no matter how big the list is, how long the animation runs, or what got picked last time. The wheel is honest — it just isn't in a hurry.
Can I shake my phone instead of tapping?
In the Midnight 8-Ball skin, yes: shake to pick, and shake again to re-roll. The other four skins ignore a shake, on the grounds that you don't shake a crystal ball (and you pull a slot machine's lever, you don't shake it).
Do my lists sync between devices, or back up?
There's no sync and no account — your lists live on the iPhone you typed them into. They're included when you back up that iPhone to iCloud or a computer, the same as any other app's data. Deleting the app deletes the lists with it.
Does it need an internet connection?
No, and it never uses one. Rand-o-matic makes no network requests at all, so it behaves exactly the same in airplane mode, on a plane, or down a hole.
Does it work with VoiceOver and larger text?
It's built to. VoiceOver reads the answer aloud the moment it lands on screen, text scales with Dynamic Type, and turning on Reduce Motion calms the animations down without hiding anything. If you hit something that doesn't work with an accessibility setting you rely on, that's a bug worth reporting — please do.
